Q. How much do you charge for your surveys?
A. It depends on how big the property is, but surveys start from £100.
Q. Why should I pay for a survey when I can get one for free.
A. D.P.C. companies need to earn to survive. So it is in their interests to find work. There is no such thing as a free lunch. So we as a company, cover our costs with a survey fee.
Q. Do I have to remove the plaster if I have rising damp.
A. 95% of the time yes. Rising damp normally brings with it ground salts (chlorides and sulphates). These salts will keep the plaster damp. An on-site salt test is the ONLY way that you can be sure if the plaster can be left in tact.
Q. Some companies suggest their systems do not need plaster removal. How can that be?
A. This is a sales tactic only. If plaster contains salt it will draw moisture to itself. Therefore even if the D.P.C. is working effectively the plaster will still remain damp.
